PNG to AVIF questions
How do I convert PNG to AVIF?
Add your PNG files with the box above, check that AVIF is selected in Convert to, and press Download. The conversion happens in your browser, so nothing is uploaded.
Will converting PNG to AVIF lower the quality?
AVIF is a lossy format, so the picture is compressed again when it is saved. Keep the quality between 85 and 95 and the result looks the same as the PNG for almost every photo.
What happens to transparency when I convert PNG to AVIF?
AVIF can store transparency, so see-through areas in your PNG stay see-through.
Can I convert many PNG files at once?
Yes. Add up to 50 files together, then download them one by one or as a single ZIP.
Is my PNG file uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything runs in your browser on your own device, and your files are never sent to a server. Camera details and GPS location are not carried into the new file.
