GIF to AVIF questions
How do I convert GIF to AVIF?
Add your GIF files with the box above, check that AVIF is selected in Convert to, and press Download. The conversion happens in your browser, so nothing is uploaded.
Will converting GIF to AVIF lower the quality?
AVIF is a lossy format, so the picture is compressed again when it is saved. Keep the quality between 85 and 95 and the result looks the same as the GIF for almost every photo.
What happens to transparency when I convert GIF to AVIF?
AVIF can store transparency, so see-through areas in your GIF stay see-through.
What happens to an animated GIF?
Only the first frame is converted. Still formats cannot hold animation, so the other frames are dropped.
Can I convert many GIF files at once?
Yes. Add up to 50 files together, then download them one by one or as a single ZIP.
Is my GIF file uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything runs in your browser on your own device, and your files are never sent to a server. Camera details and GPS location are not carried into the new file.
