Crop WebP images in your browser
WebP (Web Picture format) is a modern web format that makes smaller files than JPG and PNG. Every current browser opens it, but some older apps and editors do not. This WebP cropper lets you drag a box, lock an aspect ratio, type exact pixels, rotate, flip and straighten, then copy, share or download the result. Nothing is uploaded.
How to crop a WebP image
- Drop your WebP file onto the page, press Choose image, or paste a picture.
- Pick an aspect ratio, or leave it on Free. Drag the box and its handles, or type exact pixel values.
- Check the live preview under the picture. Open Output and guides to change the format, quality or width.
- Press Copy, Share or Download to get your cropped image.
WebP cropping questions
How do I crop a WebP image?
Add your WebP file with the box above, drag the box or type exact pixel values, check the live preview and press Download. Everything runs in your browser, so nothing is uploaded.
Will cropping lower the quality of a WebP?
Cropping only removes pixels, so what is left of your WebP is not resampled unless you set a width. Lossy formats are compressed again when saved, so keep the quality high for the best result.
Is the cropped WebP saved as WebP?
Yes. With Format set to Original, a WebP goes in and a WebP comes out. You can also choose PNG, JPEG or WebP under Output and guides.
What happens to transparency in a WebP?
See-through areas stay see-through when the result is a PNG or WebP, and circle or rounded corners are see-through too. A JPEG cannot be see-through, so those areas get the background colour you choose.
