Crop HEIC images in your browser
HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) is the default photo format on iPhone and iPad. It opens on Apple devices, but many Windows apps, websites and upload forms cannot read it. This HEIC cropper lets you drag a box, lock an aspect ratio, type exact pixels, rotate, flip and straighten, then copy, share or download the result. Nothing is uploaded.
How to crop a HEIC image
- Drop your HEIC file onto the page, press Choose image, or paste a picture.
- Pick an aspect ratio, or leave it on Free. Drag the box and its handles, or type exact pixel values.
- Check the live preview under the picture. Open Output and guides to change the format, quality or width.
- Press Copy, Share or Download to get your cropped image.
HEIC cropping questions
How do I crop a HEIC image?
Add your HEIC file with the box above, drag the box or type exact pixel values, check the live preview and press Download. Everything runs in your browser, so nothing is uploaded.
Will cropping lower the quality of a HEIC?
Cropping only removes pixels, so what is left of your HEIC is not resampled unless you set a width. Lossy formats are compressed again when saved, so keep the quality high for the best result.
Is the cropped HEIC saved as HEIC?
HEIC is opened by converting it to a high quality JPEG in your browser, so the result is a JPEG unless you choose PNG or WebP under Output and guides.
What happens to transparency in a HEIC?
See-through areas stay see-through when the result is a PNG or WebP, and circle or rounded corners are see-through too. A JPEG cannot be see-through, so those areas get the background colour you choose.
Can I crop an iPhone HEIC photo?
Yes. HEIC and HEIF photos are converted to a high quality JPEG in your browser before you crop them, and your original file is not changed.
