Compress PNG Online

PNG (Portable Network Graphics) is a lossless format for screenshots, logos and graphics with see-through areas. It opens in every browser, app and device. This PNG compressor shows the new file size live, lets you compare before and after, can hit a file size limit and handles up to 50 images at once. Nothing is uploaded.

How to compress a PNG image

  1. Drop your PNG files onto the page, press Choose images, or paste a picture.
  2. Pick a quality, or set a file size limit such as under 200 KB.
  3. Drag the divider to compare the original with the compressed image. Open Settings for the format, colors or longest side.
  4. Press Download for the current image, or Download all to get every image in one ZIP file.

PNG compression questions

How do I compress a PNG image?

Add your PNG files with the box above, set the quality, a file size limit or a smaller longest side, compare the result with the original and press Download. Everything runs in your browser, so nothing is uploaded.

How much smaller will my PNG get?

PNG is lossless, so it shrinks by using fewer colors. Reduce it to 256, 128, 64, 32 or 16 colors in Settings, or choose JPEG or WebP for the biggest saving when see-through areas are not needed.

Is the compressed PNG saved as PNG?

Yes. With Format set to Same format, a PNG goes in and a PNG comes out. You can also choose Auto, JPEG, WebP or PNG in Settings.

What happens to transparency in a PNG?

See-through areas stay see-through when the result is a PNG or WebP. A JPEG cannot be see-through, so those areas are filled with white.
