Resize GIF images in your browser

GIF (Graphics Interchange Format) is a 256-colour format best known for short animations. It opens in every browser, app and device. This GIF resizer shows the new size and file size live, keeps proportions, can hit a file size limit and handles up to 50 images at once. Nothing is uploaded.

How to resize a GIF image

  1. Drop your GIF files onto the page, press Choose images, or paste a picture.
  2. Pick how to set the size: Pixels, Percent or Preset.
  3. Check the live preview and the numbers under it. Open Settings for the format, quality or a file size limit.
  4. Press Download for the current image, or Download all to get every image in one ZIP file.

GIF resizing questions

How do I resize a GIF image?

Add your GIF files with the box above, set a width and height, a percent or a preset, check the live preview and press Download. Everything runs in your browser, so nothing is uploaded.

Will resizing lower the quality of a GIF?

Making a GIF smaller keeps it sharp because it is reduced in steps, and the GIF format keeps every pixel it is given. Making it larger cannot add detail.

Is the resized GIF saved as GIF?

The resizer saves JPEG, PNG or WebP. A GIF is saved as PNG by default, and you can choose JPEG or WebP in Settings.

What happens to transparency in a GIF?

See-through areas stay see-through when the result is a PNG or WebP. A JPEG cannot be see-through, so those areas get the background colour you choose.

What happens to an animated GIF?

Only the first frame is converted. Still formats cannot hold animation, so the other frames are dropped.
