Resize BMP images in your browser

BMP (Bitmap) is an uncompressed format from older Windows software. Most apps open it, but the files are very large, so websites rarely accept it. This BMP resizer shows the new size and file size live, keeps proportions, can hit a file size limit and handles up to 50 images at once. Nothing is uploaded.

How to resize a BMP image

  1. Drop your BMP files onto the page, press Choose images, or paste a picture.
  2. Pick how to set the size: Pixels, Percent or Preset.
  3. Check the live preview and the numbers under it. Open Settings for the format, quality or a file size limit.
  4. Press Download for the current image, or Download all to get every image in one ZIP file.

BMP resizing questions

How do I resize a BMP image?

Add your BMP files with the box above, set a width and height, a percent or a preset, check the live preview and press Download. Everything runs in your browser, so nothing is uploaded.

Will resizing lower the quality of a BMP?

Making a BMP smaller keeps it sharp because it is reduced in steps, and the BMP format keeps every pixel it is given. Making it larger cannot add detail.

Is the resized BMP saved as BMP?

The resizer saves JPEG, PNG or WebP. A BMP is saved as PNG by default, and you can choose JPEG or WebP in Settings.

What happens to transparency in a BMP?

BMP has no see-through areas, so there is nothing to keep.
