Exabytes (EB) to Terabytes (TB) Converter
Convert exabytes to terabytes.
1 EB = 1,000,000 TB
How to convert EB to TB
File sizes here use the decimal (SI) system, the same one drive makers and network providers use. In that system 1 Exabyte is 1018 bytes and 1 Terabyte is 1012 bytes. Divide one by the other and you get the ratio between the two units: 1018 ÷ 1012 = 106.
Exabyte is the bigger unit, so you multiply. Every EB holds 1,000,000 TB, which means the decimal point moves 6 places to the right.
On the ladder (B → KB → MB → GB → TB → PB → EB → ZB → YB → RB → QB) these two are 2 steps apart. Every step is a factor of 1,000, so 2 steps means 1,000 multiplied by itself 2 times, which is 106.
The formula
TB = EB × 1,000,0001 EB = 1,000,000 TB
Worked example 1: Converting 1 EB
1 EB × 1,000,000 = 1,000,000 TBThe decimal point moves 6 places to the right.
1 EB is only a small fraction of what worldwide internet traffic adds up to in one month.
Worked example 2: Converting 0.5 EB
0.5 EB × 1,000,000 = 500,000 TBThe decimal point moves 6 places to the right.
Worked example 3: Converting 12.75 EB
12.75 EB × 1,000,000 = 12,750,000 TBThe decimal point moves 6 places to the right.

Where EB to TB comes up
An exabyte is 1,000 petabytes, or a billion gigabytes. Exabytes describe traffic across whole networks, national-scale archives and industry forecasts, not any single file or drive.
A terabyte is 1,000 gigabytes, about 250,000 photos at 4 MB each. Terabytes are how consumer SSDs, external drives, home NAS boxes and cloud storage plans are sold.
Going from exabytes down to terabytes always gives a bigger number, because the unit you land on is smaller. It is the usual direction when a limit or a form asks for a smaller unit than the one you have in mind.
EB to TB FAQ
How many terabytes are in 1 exabyte?
There are 1,000,000 terabytes in 1 exabyte, so 1 EB = 1,000,000 TB.
Is EB to TB decimal or binary?
This page is decimal (SI), where 1 KB = 1,000 B. Operating systems often count in powers of 1,024 and still print KB, MB or GB, when they really mean KiB, MiB and GiB. At EB the two systems differ by about 15.3%.
How do I convert TB to EB?
Go the other way: divide by 1,000,000, which moves the decimal point 6 places to the left. The swap button on the converter does it for you.
