Terabytes (TB) to Ronnabytes (RB) Converter
Convert terabytes to ronnabytes.
1 TB = 1e-15 RB
How to convert TB to RB
File sizes here use the decimal (SI) system, the same one drive makers and network providers use. In that system 1 Terabyte is 1012 bytes and 1 Ronnabyte is 1027 bytes. Divide one by the other and you get the ratio between the two units: 1012 ÷ 1027 = 10−15.
Terabyte is the smaller unit, so you divide. One TB is only 1 × 10−15 of a RB, which means the decimal point moves 15 places to the left.
On the ladder (B → KB → MB → GB → TB → PB → EB → ZB → YB → RB → QB) these two are 5 steps apart. Every step is a factor of 1,000, so 5 steps means 1,000 multiplied by itself 5 times, which is 1015.
The formula
RB = TB ÷ 10151 TB = 1 × 10−15 RB1015 means 1 followed by 15 zeros
Worked example 1: Converting 1 TB
1 TB ÷ 1015 = 1 × 10−15 RBThe decimal point moves 15 places to the left.
1 TB is a common size for a laptop SSD or an external hard drive.
Worked example 2: Converting 0.5 TB
0.5 TB ÷ 1015 = 5 × 10−16 RBThe decimal point moves 15 places to the left.
Worked example 3: Converting 12.75 TB
12.75 TB ÷ 1015 = 1.275 × 10−14 RBThe decimal point moves 15 places to the left.

TB to RB examples
1 TB is a common size for a laptop SSD or an external hard drive. In ronnabytes that is 1 × 10−15 RB.

Where TB to RB comes up
A terabyte is 1,000 gigabytes, about 250,000 photos at 4 MB each. Terabytes are how consumer SSDs, external drives, home NAS boxes and cloud storage plans are sold.
Ronna- is the SI prefix for 1027, adopted in November 2022, so a ronnabyte is 1,000 yottabytes. Ronnabytes are new and mostly theoretical. You will see them in unit tables and in pieces about how big future data totals might get.
Going from terabytes up to ronnabytes always gives a smaller number, because you are counting in bigger chunks. People do it to make a long number readable, or to compare a file with the size of a drive or a plan.
TB to RB FAQ
How many ronnabytes are in 1 terabyte?
One terabyte is 1 × 10−15 of a ronnabyte. It takes 1015 terabytes to make 1 ronnabyte.
Is TB to RB decimal or binary?
This page is decimal (SI), where 1 KB = 1,000 B. Operating systems often count in powers of 1,024 and still print KB, MB or GB, when they really mean KiB, MiB and GiB. At RB the gap is wider still.
How do I convert RB to TB?
Go the other way: multiply by 1015, which moves the decimal point 15 places to the right. The swap button on the converter does it for you.
