Petabytes (PB) to Ronnabytes (RB) Converter
Convert petabytes to ronnabytes.
1 PB = 1e-12 RB
How to convert PB to RB
File sizes here use the decimal (SI) system, the same one drive makers and network providers use. In that system 1 Petabyte is 1015 bytes and 1 Ronnabyte is 1027 bytes. Divide one by the other and you get the ratio between the two units: 1015 ÷ 1027 = 10−12.
Petabyte is the smaller unit, so you divide. One PB is only 1 × 10−12 of a RB, which means the decimal point moves 12 places to the left.
On the ladder (B → KB → MB → GB → TB → PB → EB → ZB → YB → RB → QB) these two are 4 steps apart. Every step is a factor of 1,000, so 4 steps means 1,000 multiplied by itself 4 times, which is 1012.
The formula
RB = PB ÷ 10121 PB = 1 × 10−12 RB1012 means 1 followed by 12 zeros
Worked example 1: Converting 2 PB
2 PB ÷ 1012 = 2 × 10−12 RBThe decimal point moves 12 places to the left.
2 PB is the kind of space a large storage cluster in a data centre can hold.
Worked example 2: Converting 0.5 PB
0.5 PB ÷ 1012 = 5 × 10−13 RBThe decimal point moves 12 places to the left.
Worked example 3: Converting 12.75 PB
12.75 PB ÷ 1012 = 1.275 × 10−11 RBThe decimal point moves 12 places to the left.

PB to RB examples
2 PB is the kind of space a large storage cluster in a data centre can hold. In ronnabytes that is 2 × 10−12 RB.
| PB | RB |
|---|---|
| 1 PB | 1 × 10−12 RB |
| 2.5 PB | 2.5 × 10−12 RB |
| 10 PB | 1 × 10−11 RB |
| 50 PB | 5 × 10−11 RB |
| 100 PB | 1 × 10−10 RB |
| 500 PB | 5 × 10−10 RB |
| 1,000 PB | 1 × 10−9 RB |
Where PB to RB comes up
A petabyte is 1,000 terabytes, or a million gigabytes. Petabytes belong to data centres, research archives, big analytics warehouses and the storage side of large cloud services.
Ronna- is the SI prefix for 1027, adopted in November 2022, so a ronnabyte is 1,000 yottabytes. Ronnabytes are new and mostly theoretical. You will see them in unit tables and in pieces about how big future data totals might get.
Going from petabytes up to ronnabytes always gives a smaller number, because you are counting in bigger chunks. People do it to make a long number readable, or to compare a file with the size of a drive or a plan.
PB to RB FAQ
How many ronnabytes are in 1 petabyte?
One petabyte is 1 × 10−12 of a ronnabyte. It takes 1012 petabytes to make 1 ronnabyte.
Is PB to RB decimal or binary?
This page is decimal (SI), where 1 KB = 1,000 B. Operating systems often count in powers of 1,024 and still print KB, MB or GB, when they really mean KiB, MiB and GiB. At RB the gap is wider still.
How do I convert RB to PB?
Go the other way: multiply by 1012, which moves the decimal point 12 places to the right. The swap button on the converter does it for you.
