Exabytes (EB) to Ronnabytes (RB) Converter
Convert exabytes to ronnabytes.
1 EB = 0.000000001 RB
How to convert EB to RB
File sizes here use the decimal (SI) system, the same one drive makers and network providers use. In that system 1 Exabyte is 1018 bytes and 1 Ronnabyte is 1027 bytes. Divide one by the other and you get the ratio between the two units: 1018 ÷ 1027 = 10−9.
Exabyte is the smaller unit, so you divide. One EB is only 1 × 10−9 of a RB, which means the decimal point moves 9 places to the left.
On the ladder (B → KB → MB → GB → TB → PB → EB → ZB → YB → RB → QB) these two are 3 steps apart. Every step is a factor of 1,000, so 3 steps means 1,000 multiplied by itself 3 times, which is 109.
The formula
RB = EB ÷ 1,000,000,0001 EB = 1 × 10−9 RB
Worked example 1: Converting 1 EB
1 EB ÷ 1,000,000,000 = 1 × 10−9 RBThe decimal point moves 9 places to the left.
1 EB is only a small fraction of what worldwide internet traffic adds up to in one month.
Worked example 2: Converting 0.5 EB
0.5 EB ÷ 1,000,000,000 = 5 × 10−10 RBThe decimal point moves 9 places to the left.
Worked example 3: Converting 12.75 EB
12.75 EB ÷ 1,000,000,000 = 1.275 × 10−8 RBThe decimal point moves 9 places to the left.

EB to RB examples
1 EB is only a small fraction of what worldwide internet traffic adds up to in one month. In ronnabytes that is 1 × 10−9 RB.
| EB | RB |
|---|---|
| 1 EB | 1 × 10−9 RB |
| 2.5 EB | 2.5 × 10−9 RB |
| 10 EB | 1 × 10−8 RB |
| 50 EB | 5 × 10−8 RB |
| 100 EB | 1 × 10−7 RB |
| 500 EB | 5 × 10−7 RB |
| 1,000 EB | 0.000001 RB |
Where EB to RB comes up
An exabyte is 1,000 petabytes, or a billion gigabytes. Exabytes describe traffic across whole networks, national-scale archives and industry forecasts, not any single file or drive.
Ronna- is the SI prefix for 1027, adopted in November 2022, so a ronnabyte is 1,000 yottabytes. Ronnabytes are new and mostly theoretical. You will see them in unit tables and in pieces about how big future data totals might get.
Going from exabytes up to ronnabytes always gives a smaller number, because you are counting in bigger chunks. People do it to make a long number readable, or to compare a file with the size of a drive or a plan.
EB to RB FAQ
How many ronnabytes are in 1 exabyte?
One exabyte is 1 × 10−9 of a ronnabyte. It takes 1,000,000,000 exabytes to make 1 ronnabyte.
Is EB to RB decimal or binary?
This page is decimal (SI), where 1 KB = 1,000 B. Operating systems often count in powers of 1,024 and still print KB, MB or GB, when they really mean KiB, MiB and GiB. At RB the gap is wider still.
How do I convert RB to EB?
Go the other way: multiply by 1,000,000,000, which moves the decimal point 9 places to the right. The swap button on the converter does it for you.
