Bytes (B) to Quettabytes (QB) Converter
Convert bytes to quettabytes.
1 B = 1e-30 QB
How to convert Bytes (B) to QB
File sizes here use the decimal (SI) system, the same one drive makers and network providers use. In that system 1 Byte is 100 bytes and 1 Quettabyte is 1030 bytes. Divide one by the other and you get the ratio between the two units: 100 ÷ 1030 = 10−30.
Byte is the smaller unit, so you divide. One B is only 1 × 10−30 of a QB, which means the decimal point moves 30 places to the left.
On the ladder (B → KB → MB → GB → TB → PB → EB → ZB → YB → RB → QB) these two are 10 steps apart. Every step is a factor of 1,000, so 10 steps means 1,000 multiplied by itself 10 times, which is 1030.
The formula
QB = Bytes (B) ÷ 10301 B = 1 × 10−30 QB1030 means 1 followed by 30 zeros
Worked example 1: Converting 160 B
160 B ÷ 1030 = 1.6 × 10−28 QBThe decimal point moves 30 places to the left.
160 B is about 160 characters of plain ASCII text.
Worked example 2: Converting 0.5 B
0.5 B ÷ 1030 = 5 × 10−31 QBThe decimal point moves 30 places to the left.
Worked example 3: Converting 12.75 B
12.75 B ÷ 1030 = 1.275 × 10−29 QBThe decimal point moves 30 places to the left.

Where Bytes (B) to QB comes up
A byte is eight bits, enough to store one character of plain English text. Bytes show up whenever you need the exact number: file properties, HTTP headers, memory buffers, database column limits and the counts programs print in logs.
Quetta- is the SI prefix for 1030, also adopted in 2022, so a quettabyte is 1,000 ronnabytes. Quettabytes are the top of the official SI ladder. They turn up in unit tables and in explanations of the newest prefixes.
Starting from bytes means turning an exact count into a unit people can read at a glance.
Going from bytes up to quettabytes always gives a smaller number, because you are counting in bigger chunks. People do it to make a long number readable, or to compare a file with the size of a drive or a plan.
Bytes (B) to QB FAQ
How many quettabytes are in 1 byte?
One byte is 1 × 10−30 of a quettabyte. It takes 1030 bytes to make 1 quettabyte.
Is B to QB decimal or binary?
This page is decimal (SI), where 1 KB = 1,000 B. Operating systems often count in powers of 1,024 and still print KB, MB or GB, when they really mean KiB, MiB and GiB. At QB the gap is wider still.
How do I convert QB to B?
Go the other way: multiply by 1030, which moves the decimal point 30 places to the right. The swap button on the converter does it for you.
